Notes From the Cellar…..

Happy long weekend and it's looking like a beautiful one! Just arrived are a couple of fantastic Italian wines that we have been dying to open and this seems like the perfect weekend! Join us Friday from 3-6 and Saturday as we sample wines from two distinct regions of Northwestern Italy.
Our beer fridge has been stocked with lots of great new options for days filled with Sunshine as well as the cheese cooler for snacking!

’16 Bruna Riviera Ligure di Ponente Pigato Majé, Liguria, IT- Since 1970, Riccardo Bruna and his daughter Francesca have exalted the Vermentino grape (aka Pigato) of Liguria, creating finely‐crafted Organic wines from unique single vineyards and distinct soils. The Pigato Majé wine comes from vineyards grown on calcareous rock and blue clayey soils rich in micro and macro fossil fauna. The wine features elegance, freshness and minerality. Intensely scented with fine and varietal aromas: floral and fruity yellow peach, green apple & citrus with notes of aromatic Mediterranean scrub. Savory and elegant on the palate with a hint of salinity from the Mediterranean air this is a great accompaniment to seafood dishes- from whole roasted sea bass to seared scallops and shellfish. $19.99
’15 Cordero di Montezemolo Barbera d’Alba, Piedmonte, IT- Since 1340, 19 generations have managed the Monfalletto property in the town of La Morra, the center of the production of Barolo wine. Even today, the property is entirely family-run. Their Barbera comes from a blend of grapes from various vineyards of the Monfalletto Estate in Lamorrese and Roero. Differing altitudes and exposures lend to a complexity of aromas. The wine comes from vines of varying ages planted in clay and sandy soils and aged in French and Slovenian wood casks for about 7-8 months. Intense violet color. Mature blueberry fruit, cacao, prune & a fragrant nose. Elegant & full on the palate with very soft tannins on the finish. Pairs with Italian cuisine, meat dished and charcuterie. $24.99
